Education

If a country wants to see improvement and development, everything must be done to encourage education for all. ASAS contributes in its own way to the education of people in Laos.

Laos remains a country where a large part of the population works in agriculture, primarily rice cultivation. For many rural villages, this is their only source of income. Most villagers, often living far from towns, face precarious living conditions. They usually have a school—often a very basic structure made of bamboo or rice straw—and it is not uncommon for these schools to lack books or other educational materials entirely.

To help children from remote villages continue their education, L’ASAS rents a house where they can stay and attend school in the city.

Typically, children from these villages stop schooling at an early age, around 12, because there is no infrastructure adapted to their level.

The house is not just a place for the children—it also serves as a connection to their village. When families want to visit their children, the L’ASAS house can accommodate them, with a room reserved for visiting relatives. L’ASAS’s goal is to maintain this family connection despite the distance.

Inside the house, the children are not left to fend for themselves. The aim is to recreate the community they had to leave behind in order to continue their studies. Elders help structure this small community so the children do not feel uprooted or lost in the vastness of the city.

Other initiatives by the association include paying school fees for children living in the L’ASAS house and funding the creation of a computer class. This includes purchasing and installing equipment, creating flyers, and hiring a teacher.

You can support our efforts by making a donation to the association.

All of this is possible thanks to you!
