Education

Several associations involved in children's education are present in Laos. This is why ASAS was able to participate in certain initiatives thanks to partnerships with competent associations.

Some projects have come to life thanks to partnerships between organizations with deep local knowledge and L’ASAS, focusing on initiatives related—directly or indirectly—to education and health.

L’ASAS’s most significant partnership is with the Public Library of Luang Prabang, a small institution supported by the Lao government and several associations that aim to promote education through reading and book distribution. They operate in multiple ways, whether by organizing activities directly at the library or by visiting rural villages across the province.

L’ASAS has chosen to support the library’s various activities through financial and material contributions. Some examples include:

  • Distribution of books, hygiene kits, desks, and other school supplies in the villages of PhaNack, Ban Phatong Loum, Ban Kho Kram, Pakou, Pou Panack, and others.

  • Payment of school fees for Taowana.

  • Construction of sanitation facilities in Pou Panack and Ban Kho Kram, and a school in Ban Kho Kram.

At certain points, the Public Library of Luang Prabang has requested L’ASAS’s assistance with specific health-related cases affecting people in remote villages. Examples include transportation to Luang Prabang hospital for children and adults, as well as covering hospitalization costs for serious medical cases.

Another partnership that has had a lasting positive impact arose from a meeting with the owner of a computer company. Following this meeting, L’ASAS decided to create a computer center providing children with free access to courses. The curriculum includes learning HTML, photo editing, video editing, Visual Basic programming, Excel, Word, and, of course, basic courses for beginners.

All of these initiatives have been made possible thanks to people with a deep understanding of the challenges faced by villages and certain dedicated individuals.

A heartfelt thank you to them—and to you!
