This association has been active in Laos since 2010 (www.eaulaos.org), working on projects related to hygiene, teacher training, sanitation infrastructure, the creation of educational games, and the publication of books for children and teenagers.

L’ASAS met with Sally Pillitteri, the founder and president of the association. We have been following her work closely since 2014 and know her for her dedication and professionalism in carrying out a wide range of projects.

For the past two years, she has also been leading a project focused on the well-being of young Lao girls, specifically addressing hygiene and puberty. The project is called “I Am a Teenager” and includes the following:

  • The creation and publication of a book designed specifically for Lao girls, adapted to their needs and level of understanding—often very limited—on this topic.

  • The training of educators on issues related to hygiene and puberty.

  • Workshops in rural secondary schools across Laos, including awareness sessions and a theater performance about puberty for girls aged 11 to 14.

  • The distribution of the book “I Am a Teenager” and a hygiene kit to each girl who participates in the workshop.

To date, the association has already reached and educated over 3,000 young girls in the Luang Prabang province.
